The General Federation of Women’s Clubs McAlester Fortnightly Ceramics and Craft held a special event today at brunch with a silent auction at St. John’s Parish Hall.
The group has had many outstanding occasions, including the Spring Banquet, at the Country Club.
The McAlester club provides reports to national headquarters that indicate what the program does for the community, such as help with funding for Women in Crisis, CASA, Red Cross, Blue Star Mothers, various cancer foundations, Boys and Girls Club, Multiple Sclerosis, disaster relief, Smile project.
The organization also gives scholarships for nurses and students studying in many fields.
The club’s most recent meeting, led by Val Derichweiler, involved making Santa Claus scarves. Jan and Rita Sanders were the hostesses, providing cakes and quiches.
Anyone interested in becoming a club member may contact the club president, Mary Grimm, at 424-4192.
