Early voting under way in Crowder school bond election

Early in-person absentee ballot voting began today at the Pittsburg County Election Board office in advance of the Tuesday school bond election in Crowder.

The early voting will be held until 6 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday at the Election Board’s temporary offices adjacent to City Hall between First Street and North Main Street on Washington Avenue. No early voting will be available on Saturday.

Regular precincts in the Crowder School District will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday for the school bond election.

School officials are asking voters in the Crowder School District to pass a $300,000 Transportation bond issue.

Money from passage of the bond issue would be used to purchase two new school buses and pay off another bus, said Crowder School Superintendent David Jones.

He said the school needs a new activity and bus, as well as a new bus to drive on regular school routes. Paying off the third bus early would benefit the school economically, he said. All of the groups at the school would be able to use the new activity bus, Jones said.

A larger and better bus is needed for the route on the south end of the school district, he said.
