Sonic Drive In has partnered with DonorsChoose.org to help teachers help their students to succeed.
DonorsChoose.org is a Web site where teachers can request materials for classroom projects. Prospective donors visit this site, read the explanation of the request, and commit funding to support the efforts.
During the month of September, Sonic ran a special program, Limeades for Learning, to fund classroom projects through the purchase of Sonic drinks. Coupons on the cups could be peeled off to reveal a code to vote for a favorite project at www.limeadesforlearning.com.
Thus far, five projects in the McAlester school district have been funded through this program. The first grade class of Gwen Geis at Edmond Doyle Elementary will see the benefits of three funded projects: Listening Links Learning, Big Books for Little Learners, and Picture the Next Picasso. The other two funded projects, Tables 4 Success and Tabul8ing Tablets,will appear in the math classroom of Chuck Geis at KEY Academy.
Matt and Sarah Draeger, whose son Shane attends Edmond Doyle, helped from the Krebs Sonic. Mike Price, owner/manager of the McAlester Sonic and MPS board member, assisted from the McAlester Sonic Drive In.
