Federal, state and local officers make multiple drug arrests in McAlester, Pittsburg County

McALESTER — Federal, state and local law enforcement officers fanned out across the McAlester area early Wednesday, making multiple arrests related to an investigation into cocaine distribution, conspiracy and other offenses.

Six individuals were arrested Monday on federal complaints, with the remaining arrests on state charges expected Wednesday.

“Today, we’re arresting 16 people on 26 arrest warrants,” District 18 Drug Task Force Agent Tim Turner said early Wednesday. Some of the defendants have more than one warrant issued against them, according to Turner.

As soon as those named in the warrants were arrested, they were whisked to the George Nigh National Guard Armory, where they were processed before being taken to jail at the Pittsburg County Justice Center.

Law enforcement agencies helping with the Wednesday  operation in the McAlester area included the FBI, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, the District 18 Task Force, the McAlester Police Department, the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Department, the Krebs Police  Department, the Choctaw Light Horse Police and the Bureau of Indian Affairs .

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma also assisted in the investigation, along with the Muskogee Police Department and the Tulsa Police Department.
