New mayor, three city councilors sworn into office; get advice

McALESTER — The new McAlester mayor and three city councilors were sworn into office for four-year terms at the beginning of the regular Tuesday night city council meeting  — after they received some advice from a councilor leaving their ranks.

Municipal Judge Deborah Hackler first administered the oath of office to incoming Mayor Steve Harrison.

She then in turn, swore in returning Ward 1 Councilor Weldon Smith, new Ward 3 Councilor Travis Read and returning Ward 5 Councilor Buddy Garvin.
