McAlester woman pleads in meth house case

McALESTER — A McAlester woman recently entered a guilty plea in a case involving making methamphetamine.

Christina A. Jackson, 30, pleaded guilty Sept. 27 in Pittsburg County District Court to charges of possession of controlled dangerous substances (marijuana and methamphetamine) within 1,000 feet of a school or park and maintaining a place for keeping /selling controlled substances.

Jackson was ordered to enter District 18 Drug Court.

Jackson was the second of three defendants in the case to enter a plea.

On Aug. 24, Jeryka Darcy, 24, of McAlester, pleaded guilty to 23 drug-related felony charges. She was fined $3,300 and received a 10-year suspended sentence on each count, to run concurrently.

The third defendant arrested in the case, Richard Allen Cates, 40, of McAlester, is due back in court Nov. 2 to face charges of manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school or park and five counts of possession of a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine.

According to court records, officers executed a search warrant on Aug. 15 in a home on South Elm Street in McAlester.

After making entry into the residence, Cates, Jackson and Darcy were taken into custody and transported to the Pittsburg County Jail.

After searching the South Elm Street home, officers found numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

After entering a guilty plea, Jackson was ordered to successfully complete drug court. Once drug court is successfully completed, the case against Jackson will be dismissed. However, if she does not successfully complete drug court, Jackson will be sentenced to serve seven years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Cates remains in custody at the Pittsburg County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond and was unavailable for comment.

In seeking comment, a working phone number for Darcy could not be located. And Jackson said her comment on the case is "no comment."
