Over the weekend, McAlester host a large scale firefighter training, the second annual McAlester Firefighters Classic, that educated more than 430 firefighters from fire departments all over Oklahoma. Pictured is a Hartshorne firefighter who participated in the event.

    Tornado warning has expired for Pittsburg County. Severe thunderstorm warning extended until 9 p.m. However tornado watch has been extended until 3 a.m., according to McAlester/Pittsburg County Emergency Management Director Trent Myers.

    Tornadoes and severe weather have torn through a large part of Oklahoma today (May 20,2013) and have devastated Moore south of Oklahoma City hitting two schools and Moore's hospital.

    Severe weather is possible for Pittsburg County and is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. this evening.

    McAlester/Pittsburg County Director of Emergency Service Trent Myers gives video tips on how to weather the storms.
