A second case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in Pittsburg County, leaving only Tulsa County ahead in the number of confirmed cases in Oklahoma so far this year.
The second Pittsburg County case is an adult male in the 25-to-64 age range, said Laurence Burnsed, an epidemiologist at the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
While two cases of West Nile virus have already been confirmed in Pittsburg County for 2012, only one case of had been confirmed in all of Oklahoma for the entire year of 2011.
