McALESTER —
A man and woman from Texas were arrested Feb. 7 for attempting to manufacture methamphetamine at the Happy Days Hotel in McAlester.
Robert Wesley Fry, 35, and Crystal Lynn Cooper, 25, were charged in Pittsburg County District Court with endeavoring to manufacture a controlled dangerous substance, false personation and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court records, the pair were pulled over by police at the intersection of Main Street and Electric Avenue. Fry and Cooper were in a Ford Expedition with a nine-month old child. When police searched the vehicle, they allegedly found numerous items associated with making crystal meth.
The pair allegedly gave police false identification cards with fake names and police were able to determine this later when they found items associated with making fake IDs and credit cards.
According to a police affidavit, authorities searched the couple’s room at the Happy Days Hotel and allegedly found more items associated with manufacturing meth.
If convicted of these crimes, both Fry and Cooper face up to life in prison.
