McALESTER — A former resident of the McAlester Housing Authority appealed her application denial during a regular meeting of the board on Monday.
Alice Cross a former resident of the McAlester Housing Authority said she disputed the charges she was assessed after she was evicted several years ago.
“ I came back after 20 years and applied and I was turned down because of an old list of repairs and back-due rent,” Cross said.
After the board was presented with pictures of her apartment taken after her eviction and a detailed list of the damages, along with her rental records since 1974 they voted to uphold the denial of her application.
Also during Monday’s meeting McAlester resident Bob Goodspeed was introduced to the board by Robert Way chairman of the board.
He said Goodspeed has agreed to be sworn as a new member at next month’s meeting.
Attending Monday’s meeting was Executive Director Joy Holloway Executive Secretary Donna Robinson and members Larry Walla and Betty Pickle.
The meetings are the held at 4 p.m. the second Monday of the month at 620 West Kiowa Avenue. The meetings are open to the pubic.
