Criminal history of Anthony Dexter Washington II
• August 2012 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and unlawful possession of a controlled drug with the intent to distribute. Case dismissed.
• January 2012 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug (Methamphetamine) with the intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park, unlawful possession of a controlled drug (Cocaine) with the intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park, unlawful possession of a controlled drug (Marijuana) with the intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park, possession of a controlled substance (Lortab) within 1,000 feet of a park and possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) within 1,000 feet of a park. Case dismissed.
• April 2009 (Oklahoma County) — Convicted of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Codeine). Sentenced to seven years incarceration.
• March 2009 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with possession of controlled substances (Cocaine and Marijuana). Pleaded guilty and received a 15-year suspended sentence.
• Aug. 2008 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana) and transporting an open bottle or container of liquor. Pleaded guilty and received a 15-year suspended sentence.
• June 2006 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with use of a vehicle in discharge of weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance within 2,000 feet of public housing and possession of a controlled substance (Cocaine). Pleaded guilty and sentenced to six months incarceration.

• March 2012 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled drug (cocaine) with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park, unlawful possession of a controlled drug (marijuana) with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park, possession of a controlled substance (Lortab) within 1,000 feet of a park and possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) within 1,000 feet of a park. Case dismissed.
• September 2010 (Oklahoma County) — Convicted of a 2009 charge of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. Received a 10-year suspended sentence.
• September 2010 (Oklahoma County) — Convicted of a 2008 charge of second degree burglary. Received a seven-year suspended sentence.
• September 2010 (Oklahoma County) — Convicted of 2006 charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of proceeds derived from a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act. Received 10-year suspended sentences on both counts.
• September 2010 (Oklahoma County) — Convicted of 2006 charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of proceeds derived from a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act. Received 10-year suspended sentences on the first two counts and a five-year suspended sentence on the third count.

Two McAlester drug trafficking cases dismissed

McALESTER — Two McAlester drug trafficking cases were recently dismissed in Pittsburg County District Court.

According to court records, the Pittsburg County District Court trafficking charges were dismissed for two men because both men are expected to be federally indicted for the same or similar charges.

Anthony Dexter Washington II, 27, of Oklahoma City, and Maurice Elon Edwards, 27, of Spencer, were accused of trafficking drugs into McAlester in 2012.

Washington was originally charged with five different drug related felonies in January 2012. Then, on Aug. 9, those charges were dismissed and, on Aug. 10, he was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and unlawful possession of a controlled drug with the intent to distribute.

According to court records, Washington was at the West Ridge Apartments in McAlester on Jan. 14, 2012, and allegedly had a variety of drugs in his possession. He was arrested on that day and booked into the Pittsburg County Jail. Washington is currently in custody with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections at the Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown.

Edwards was charged March 6 with various drug charges, including:

• Trafficking in methamphetamine;

• Unlawful possession of a controlled drug (cocaine) with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park;

• Unlawful possession of a controlled drug (marijuana) with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a park;

• Possession of a controlled substance (Lortab) within 1,000 feet of a park; and

• Possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) within 1,000 feet of a park.

According to court records, police searched a rented vehicle that was allegedly in the custody of Edwards and found 20 grams of meth, cocaine, 14 bricks of marijuana, and Lortab and Xanax pills.

On Jan. 15, all charges in the Pittsburg County cases against both Washington and Edwards were dismissed. “The rationale for this dismissal is that the State has been apprised by the United States of America, as represented by the United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, that a Federal indictment is imminent for the same or similar charges as levied in the instant case,” states Pittsburg County court documents for both Washington and Edwards. As of presstime today, federal charges had not been filed for either Washington or Edwards.
