Puterbaugh activity club students visit MPS Board

McALESTER — A group of Puterbaugh Middle School students from a vast array of activity groups attended Monday evening’s meeting of the McAlester Public Schools Board of Education.

The students introduced themselves to the board and talked a bit about their club / activity group. The Puterbaugh cheer squad even performed a cheer for the board members.

Attending the meeting were Puterbaugh students representing the following extra-curricular activities:

• Student Council;

• Academic Team;

• McAlester Football;

• McAlester Volleyball;

• McAlester Softball;

• McAlester Cheerleading; and

• Technology Student Association.

Puterbaugh Middle School student Colin Smith opened Monday evening’s meeting with the flag salute then Puterbaugh student Alyson Giles led the board in prayer.

Puterbaugh Principal Skip Gore then talked to the board about Puterbaugh Middle School and discussed the school’s various extra curricular activities. He then introduced Puterbaugh Vice Principal Raymond Wilson, who spoke to the board further about Puterbaugh’s extra curricular activity groups, including sports, orchestra, choir student council and academic teams.

After the students introduced themselves to the board and spoke briefly about their student activity groups, the board moved to the next item on the agenda.

The McAlester Public Schools Board of Education meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Old McAlester High School Cafetorium at 200 E. Adams Ave. The meetings are open to the public.
