Wreck causes injuries to pair

Two passengers were injured n a single-vehicle accident following a mishap near Krebs on Thursday.

Following the accident, the McAlester Fire Department transported Melissa Russell, 39, of Quinton, to the McAlester Regional Health Center, said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. She was listed in stable condition with a head injury, the highway patrol said.

Another passenger, Damen Shepherd, 14, of Quinton, was transported by Integris Emergency Medical Services to the McAlester hospital, where he was reported in stable condition with a head injury, an OHP spokesman said.

The accident occurred around 7:35 p.m. as driver Jeremy Shepherd, 32, of Quinton, headed west in a 2001 Ford approximately 5.5 miles east of Krebs on State Highway 31, the highway patrol said.

Shepherd was using the Ford to tow another vehicle on a trailer, according to the highway patrol.

The vehicle on the trailer slid backward, causing the Ford to go out of control, striking a guard rail and rolling over twice before coming to rest on its wheels, the highway patrol said.

During the accident, Damen Shepherd was ejected an unknown distance from the Ford, according to the highway patrol.

Neither the driver, Jeremy Shepherd nor another passenger, Bradley Davis, 32, of Quinton, were injured in the accident, according to the highway patrol.

Trooper Garrett Gray of the Troop D Detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol headquarters investigated the accident.
