Police impersonators handcuff, try to jail 3

McALESTER — Two McAlester men and one woman impersonating task force officers have been arrested after kidnapping and falsely arresting three McAlester residents and calling for police back up and then attempting to book the victims into jail.

The trio were all arrested on complaints of kidnapping, false personation and arrest without proper authority, according to Under Sheriff Richard Bedford.

Bedford said a landlord who wanted to evict his tenants and apparently used the alleged impersonators to get them out of his property.

Early Thursday morning, one of the man came to the front door of a home on  Van Buren Avenue wearing a pistol and told the residents there was another man at the back door with shot gun, according to a Pittsburg County Sheriff’s affidavit.
