West, Mandisa "bring it" to McAlester

McALESTER — Recording artists Matthew West and Mandisa inspired a crowd estimated at 3,800 individuals to make a joyful noise during their joint concert at the Southeast Expo Center in McAlester.

The two Grammy-nominated singers, along with their outstanding bands, “brought it” to the city Sunday night for their “The Heart of Christmas” concert that spanned three hours.

They both rang the rafters at the Expo Center with their soulful performances, which helped benefit the Ryan McAfee Memorial Scholarship fund.

Those attending the event came from not only the McAlester area, but from around the entire state and beyond, including some who traveled from as far away as Arkansas and Louisiana.

    It’s almost time to hit the trail — but there’s still time to cowboy and cowgirl-up and help out a horse-related organization known for its charitable work.
    A benefit trail ride and lunch on behalf of the Therapeutic Equestrian Association of McAlester — also known as TEAM —  is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. The trail ride will be held at the James Collins Wildlife Management Area, which includes parts of Pittsburg and Latimer counties, northeast of Krebs.
