E911, All on board

Local phone companies on board with new 911 system

McALESTER —

All the local phone companies are now onboard with the new 911 system, according to Lisa Sutterfield 911 coordinator for Pittsburg County.
Members of the 911/E911 Advisory and Oversight Board met Monday for their regular meeting at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The system is running well, according to Sutterfield who was reporting to the board.
“We are in pretty good shape,” she said.
Although residents within the city of McAlester can be quickly located, residents outside the city should give an address when calling 911, Sutterfield said.
And she said residents who aren’t sure what their correct address is can call McAlester City Hall and ask for 911 dispatch to help them.
Also during the meeting the board approved the next meeting date for Jan. 14.
Also present were board members; Danny Choate, chairman; Trent Myers, vice chairman; Pete Stasiak, manager, City of McAlester; Richard Bedford, undersheriff, Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Dept; Brett Brewer, chief, McAlester Fire Department; Pam Smith, Paramed Ambulance Service and Claudia Keeling, Air Evac Lifeteam.
The 911/E911 Advisory and Oversight Board meets on the second Monday of every month at 2 p.m. in the commissioners conference room at the Pittsburg County Courthouse. The meetings are open to the public.
