Plans for housing community stay on track

McALESTER — Plans for a new housing development moved to the next step during Thursday’s special meeting of the City of McAlester Planning Commission.

The commission had the special meeting at 6 p.m. at McAlester City Hall because the normally scheduled time was close to the Thanksgiving Holiday, according to Mark Emmons, chairman.
The commission unanimously approved the preliminary plat for the Royal Oaks subdivision, 38 upscale homes to be built near 9th Street and Hardy Springs Road.
The homes will be about 2,000 square feet in size, Emmons said.
Also present at Thursday’s meeting were members Robert Way, Karl Scrifes, Harvey Bollinger, Karen Stoubaugh,  Denise Lewis and Primus Moore.
