McALESTER —
A car accident in Canadian sent two Pittsburg County residents to the hospital.
On Friday, just before 7 p.m., Elbert Bernard, 37, of Crowder, was driving northbound on U.S. Highway 69 near Canadian when his vehicle veered off the road, hit a ditch, completely rolled over, went through a barb wire fence and then finally came to rest upright, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report by Trooper Tim Wesley of the Pittsburg County Detachment.
Both Bernard, and his passenger, 19-year-old Kristen French, of Canadian, were transported by medical helicopter to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa where they were listed in critical condition, according to Wesley’s report.
French was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, according to a spokesperson from St. John’s.
On Wednesday, the News-Capital learned that Bernard is being treated in the Neurological Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Tulsa hospital, according to a St. John’s spokesperson.
