Gerald Thomas Scott’s criminal record
• December 2012 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with assault on a police officer with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer with a dangerous weapon and eluding a police officer. Pleaded no contest and sentenced to eight years, with the last five years suspended.
• January 2011 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with larceny of merchandise from a retailer and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Pleaded guilty and sentenced to one year.
• November 2007 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with assault with a motor vehicle upon a police officer and reckless driving. Pleaded guilty tot he first count and sentenced to five years, with the balance suspended upon successful completion of a six-month inpatient drug rehabilitation program. The second count was dismissed.
• August 2007 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Pleaded guilty to the first count and received a five-year suspended sentence. The second count was dismissed.
• April 2006 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication. Pleaded guilty and sentencing was deferred for five years on the first count. He received a one-year suspended sentence on the second count and a 30-day sentence on the third count.
• January 2005 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with domestic abuse assault and battery. Pleaded guilty and received a one-year suspended sentence.
• January 2005 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Pleaded guilty and received a one-year suspended sentence.
• October 2004 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with driving with a suspended license. Pleaded guilty and sentencing was deferred for one year.
• July 2002 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with second degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property. Pleaded no contest and sentencing was deferred for two years.
• October 2001 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with first degree rape and unlawful tattooing or offering. Found not guilty by jury.
• March 2001 (Pittsburg County) — Charged with unlawful possession of paraphernalia. Pleaded guilty and sentencing was deferred for one year.

Arpelar man pleads to using vehicle to assault police

McALESTER — An Arpelar man received prison time for eluding and assaulting police with his vehicle.

Gerald Thomas Scott, 31, was charged Dec. 31 in Pittsburg County District Court with felony assault on a police officer with a dangerous weapon, felony assault and battery on a police officer with a dangerous weapon and felony eluding a police officer.

On Jan. 10, Scott pleaded no contest to the charges filed against him and was sentenced to eight years, with the last five years suspended. He was also fined $975.

According to court records, McAlester police officer Chris Troussel was engaged in a vehicle pursuit at approximately 2:35 a.m. on Dec. 30.

“During this pursuit we were traveling north bound on 6th Street from Seminole and (McAlester police) officer Preston Rodgers set a road block up on 6th Street just south of Wyandotte,” the affidavit states. “Gerald Scott swerved his vehicle at Officer Rodgers causing (him) to have to take evasive action.

“The pursuit went to (U.S.) Highway 69 and then north. (McAlester police) officer Ken Bethune was attempting to pass Scott to get far enough ahead to set up stop sticks,” the affidavit continues. “We were north bound on (U.S.) Highway 69 almost at Mt. Moriah Road when Officer Bethune made this attempt. Gerald Scott swerved at Officer Bethune’s car, making contact with Officer Bethune’s car.”

Scott has been in custody at the Pittsburg County jail since Dec. 30 and is waiting to be transferred to the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. He was unavailable for comment at presstime.
