City manager: Stickers are sticking point in city, fire department negotiations

McALESTER — McAlester City Manager Pete Stasiak leans forward in his office on the second floor of McAlester City Hall and punches numbers on a calculator.

Anyway he adds it up, he says the city can no longer afford agreements negotiated with the local firefighters’ union in years past.

One of the main sticking points for the city, according to Stasiak — sticker pay, or incentive pay the firefighters receive for additional training.
