The new version of the McAlester City Council will have a full agenda to consider once the new city councilors are sworn into office — including a request to approve the lease purchase of a massive piece of road repair equipment.
City councilors will be asked to waive the standard bidding procedure and authorize the mayor to sign a lease purchase agreement for the lease of a truck-mounted Dura Patcher and an Emulsion Storage Dunk Tank.
Mayor Kevin Priddle, along with Vice Mayor and Ward 5 councilor Buddy Garvin, recently watched a demonstration of the equipment near the intersection of Washington Avenue and First Street.
Both were so impressed with the equipment’s abilities to conduct swift and quality repairs, that they were still talking about it several days later.
City councilors are also expected to consider another huge issue when they meet at 6 tonight in the Council Chambers at City Hall — the city’s water quality.
The councilors will be asked to authorize City Chief Financial Officer Gayla Duke to perform budget amendments that would result in a transfer to the city’s CIP fund for the entire project cost of $234,509 for work and upgrades on the city’s Buffalo water tank.
