McAlester police find meth lab in vehicle

McALESTER — McAlester police allegedly found a methamphetamine lab inside a vehicle when conducting a regular traffic stop.

According to court records, McAlester police officer Kevin Bishop conducted a traffic stop on a black 2003 Chevy Impala. When Bishop approached the vehicle, he “could smell a strong chemical odor associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine was emitting from inside the vehicle,” a police affidavit states.

When police searched the vehicle, they allegedly found numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

All three were charged Nov. 26 in Pittsburg County District Court with manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine). Dean and Ragan were also charged with misdemeanor obstructing an officer.

All three were still in custody Friday at the Pittsburg County jail, according to PCSO’s daily inmate list and are were unavailable for comment by presstime today. Ragan is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond, Dean in lieu of a $50,000 bond and Lemons in lieu of a $15,000 bond.

They are all three due back in court Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. to face charges. If convicted, they each face up to life imprisonment.
