McALESTER —
The McAlester Young Professionals group is looking for new members.
Treasurer Vicky Jones said the group has 35 members but would like to have more.
“Our goal is to have 75 members by the end of the year,” Jones said.
She said the group was formed to help connect young people who are looking for ways to network with each other and to serve the McAlester community.
“We have plans to work with organizations such as Pride in McAlester and Rebuilding Together,” Jones said.
She said the group meets monthly for luncheons at different McAlester restaurants.
In December, she said the group has several events planned to help increase membership that started with a Membership Luncheon on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Pete’s Place.
And on Friday, the group had a Christmas Party at Great Balls of Fire at 7:30 p.m.,
Jones said.
On Dec. 13, the group will host a Morning Mingle at the AmericInn Lodge and Suites from 7:30 to 8 a.m. She said this event is geared for those who would like to learn more about MYP before heading off to work.
Members must be 21 and be employees or employers or business owners in McAlester or the surrouding areas.
