McALESTER —
A county report has revealed some $508,700 will be used to pay 10 employees to care of stray dogs and cats at the Pittsburg County Animal Shelter.
The Pittsburg County Commissioners recently budgeted $687,700, this fiscal year, to fund the PIttsburg County Animal Shelter.
A report from Pittsburg County Commissioners office revealed that $508,700, or 73 percent of the budget, will pay for the benefits and salaries of 10 employees who care for the stray dogs and cats.
“We have five girls and five guys,” said Sandra Hefley the newly hired director.
According to county the county will spend $508,700 on shelter employees this year.
