OKLAHOMA CITY — Discover Oklahoma producer Dino Lalli has been named co-host of the weekly television show, the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department announced Monday. Lalli joins Jenifer Reynolds as co-host of the program that airs weekly and begins his new role on Nov. 17.
“It has been a tremendous privilege to be associated with Discover Oklahoma these past four years,” Lalli said. “You won’t find any better folks than Shel Wagner, Jenifer Reynolds, Tommy Evans, Walt Cox and Claire Fretwell working in television anywhere. Their talent, energy and creativity never cease to amaze me. Now to be standing next to Jenifer as her co-host just takes that to a whole new level for me. I’m truly blessed, honored and very excited! And I look forward to continuing the tradition of doing fun and informative shows for our loyal viewers.”
Lalli, a McAlester native, is the president of Clever Name Productions, LLC, a company dedicated to providing various types of programming to television stations around the country and corporate videography. Lalli is also the writer, producer and host of the weekly award-winning showing “Hollywood Spotlight” on KSBI-TV. The show takes a look at current films, movies available to rent, as well as personality profiles in and connected to the film industry.
Prior to working for Discover Oklahoma, Lalli worked in the Oklahoma Film and Music Office as a field representative for almost nine years and as the office’s director. In that capacity, some of his duties included location scouting and photographs, production logistics, eliminating red tape for various types of productions, research, acting as a liaison between a production entity and the community and/or state, and point of contact for various production companies. Prior to his service with the state, Lalli was the creative services director in the television division of a worldwide, non-profit organization based in Oklahoma City.
Over a 20-year period, Lalli served as the entertainment editor and film critic for three television stations; the ABC and NBC affiliates in Oklahoma City as well as KNBC in Burbank, Calif. While at Channel 5 in Oklahoma City, he hosted and produced an award winning nationally syndicated program on movies. He is one of just a handful of entertainment reporters in the country ever to be nominated for an Emmy Award. Several of the Academy Awards specials Lalli produced and hosted were nominated for regional Emmy Awards while at Channel 5. He also received numerous community awards and citations for his charity work.
Much of Lalli’s work has aired nationally on various ABC affiliates, The Today Show, CNN Showbiz Tonight, ESPN, and Entertainment Tonight.
“Dino has done a lovely job filling-in alongside Jenifer Reynolds, after longtime co-host Ron Stahl retired in 2011,” said Discover Oklahoma Executive Producer Shel Wagner. “It seemed only natural to ask Dino to fill the co-hosting position officially. He has been a beloved and trusted television personality for decades, and his knowledge of Oklahoma and enthusiasm for the state make him an obvious ambassador - perfect for helping to fulfill the mission of the Discover Oklahoma television show.”
Lalli received his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism radio/TV broadcasting from the University of Oklahoma in 1978. His freshman year at OU, he was a McMahon Journalism Scholar. He and his wife, Laryssa, have three children.
