Dunlay earns rank as Eagle Scout

McALESTER — Joseph Patrick “J.P.” Dunlay, son of Kenna Dunlay,of Kiowa and Dave Dunlay, of Eufaula,was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout earlier this year. His rank advancement was celebrated at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on July 22, at the St John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

His rank advancement was celebrated at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the St.. John the Evangelistic Catholic Church in McAlester. 
His Eagle Service Project included coordinating and leading volunteers to plant flowers and trees and to bury an existing sprinkler system at St. John the Evangelistic Catholic church in McAlester.
Joseph is a member of Troop 2, sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of McAlester. The ceremony was presided over by Ryan Dalley, scoutmaster for the troop.
 Numerous citations were presented by Larry Boyer to Joseph during the event. The citations were from from Sen. Jim Inhofe, Sen. Tom Coburn, Sen. Richard Lerblance, Rep. Donnie Condit, and Rep. Brian Renegar. He was also presented with an American flag and certificate from Congressman Dan Boren.   
During the event, Joseph presented his mother with a miniature eagle pin in honor of her support. He also selected Troop 2 Assistant Scoutmaster Jim Thompson, to receive a mentor pin.
Joseph is a 2012 graduate of Canadian High School. His future plans include becoming a medic in the U.S. Army.
