Blood drive planned at Walmart

From submitted reports

Oklahoma Blood Institute encourages all healthy McAlester-area residents, ages 17 and older, to feel ‘fan’tastic by giving blood from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday in the bloodmobile at McAlester Walmart, 432 South George Nigh Expwy.

All donors will receive their choice of a free University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University blood donor T-shirt, along with free health screenings and Members for Life points to redeem at OBI’s online store.

“Whether donors ‘bleed’ crimson or orange, the critical need for blood crosses team lines,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and CEO.

“One in three people will need blood in a lifetime, which is why we need McAlester-area residents to suit up in an effort to save lives.”

Donations can be made every 56 days, and OBI provides every drop of blood used by most hospitals statewide.

For more information or to make an appointment to donate in the McAlester Walmart blood drive, contact Tommie Williams at 918-432-8585.
