New church temporarily holds service in hotel

McALESTER — Cornelius’ House is a new American Baptist Church in McAlester. The church will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays in its temporary location at the Hampton Inn, 711 S. George Nigh Expressway.

The name Cornelius’ House comes from Acts 10 in the Bible.

Cornelius’ House plans to add events throughout the week in addition to its main services on Wednesday nights as soon as possible. The church will work toward establishing benevolence ministries to meet the needs of McAlester residents.

“We want to come alongside other churches in McAlester to witness to the saving power of Jesus Christ and to teach his commandments. We hope that people in McAlester who do not already have a church home will come to see what we are about and feel welcome,” said Stephen Bailey, a pastor at Cornelius’ House.

Stephen and Ronda Bailey, of McAlester; Stephen and Zee Butler, of Arkansas City, Kan.; Marcus Hicks, of McAlester; and Gabriel and Virginia Webb, of McAlester, are the pastors’ families and founding members of Cornelius’ House. Learn more about the new church at www.corneliushouse.net.
