McALESTER —
The U.S. Department of Agriculture offices in McAlester have a new address, in a new location, in a new building.
Their new address is 3101 Elks Rd. at the city’s Southside Development Center, previously known as the Southside Industrial Park.
To get there, just access the newly renovated Elks Creek Road, which runs adjacent to the Happy Days Restaurant and Great Balls of Fire.
Housed inside the building are two USDA offices, along with a state office.
The building houses the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Farm Services Agency for the USDA, as well as the Pittsburg County Conservation District for the state of Oklahoma.
Previously, the USDA Offices in McAlester were at 2005 S. Third St. in McAlester. A third USDA office that had been housed in the building on South Third Street closed its McAlester offices in May and has since relocated to Muskogee.
Tim Jones oversees the USDA building in McAlester and is also the district conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
“We want people to know we’ve relocated to our new facility,” Jones said.
