Editor:
Not much shocks me in this county, but Bill Derichsweiler’s remark to Sam Mason regarding the McAlester Economic Development Service in 9-9-09’s paper was totally rude. Who does he and his friends think they are? I think Mr. Derichsweiler certainly owes Mr. Mason an apology. Speaking against MEDS, I and several of my “people” with whom I work with and talk everyday, think what Derichsweiler thinks of as negativity is common sense.
Mason is the only one with the exception perhaps of Donnie Condit, that votes to help save this city money. Too much money, in the past and currently, is flying out the window. I wish that everyone that is so behind ex-director Jim Mills would read to the bottom of every article regarding bringing new business here. This last business regarding arms, I believe, at the end, it was to employ up to 70 people. That’s all we need anyway, is another gun factory. We passed up Oklahoma State University for Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Any regrets?
To continue to put $18,000 a month in MEDS, which currently is short a director, is ludicrous. Get your director, hear his ideas and then begin pouring money back in. To me, it’s a lost cause to everyone not on the committee until we clean up our infrastructure.
Sorry, I will apologize to Mr. Mason. You hang in there. We need you.
