McALESTER — Campbell Davis knows his way around a defense. He played cornerback for the McAlester Buffaloes’ freshmen football team, then moved to safety a year later.
As a junior, Davis moved to outside linebacker, and he’s stayed there for his senior year.
“It’s more physical,” Davis said of his new position Tuesday.
Growing up in McAlester, Davis began playing flag football in the fourth grade, then moved to tackle in the seventh grade. He got into his first varsity game as a sophomore against Memorial.
“I was nervous,” Davis said of his first game under the Friday night lights. “I don’t feel (nervous) as much any more, but I think you always kind of feel them, no matter what.”
