The Emerald Isle — Ireland — is calling to you
If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting Ireland, this might be the time to go. Irish tourism is way down, as it is almost everywhere, and the Irish are offering deep discounts to incentivise American travelers to visit the Emerald Isle.
For the independent traveler the “Ireland Self Drive” package starts at an amazing $789 per person for seven nights. This package includes one night hotel accommodation in Waterford (Ireland’s oldest city dating back to the Vikings) and two nights in Killarney (don’t miss out on the horse drawn cart rides). On to Limerick, home of the Hunt Museum for one night and Galway (visit Lynch’s Castle) for one night. You’ll end up spending your final two nights in Dublin. It also includes seven day rental car with unlimited mileage, airport pick up and drop off as well as local taxes. All hotel taxes are included — even the service charges — continental breakfasts and helpful maps and guides.
I’d love to stay in a castle, so the six-night “Dublin & Irish Castle” stay seems perfect for me. The trip starts at $689 per person and includes three nights of hotel accommodations in Dublin and three nights of castle accommodations in Ireland, with room taxes and service charges included. It also includes a three day rental car with collision damage waiver, unlimited mileage and local taxes. Continental breakfast is provided daily as well.
Dublin is home to Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Phoenix Park. But don’t forget to have a pint of Guinness while you’re there.
For the golfer “Tee off in Ireland” begins at $899 per person and includes four nights B&B; accommodations in the Killarney area and two nights B&B; accommodations in the Ennis area. Green fees at Dooks, Dingle Golf, Laninch, Lackabane and Ring of Kerry are also included, as is your rental car.
For those of us who prefer an escorted tour, the nine-night “Unforgettable Ireland Escorted Tour” is priced beginning at just $1649 per person. This tour includes escorted sightseeing by luxury motorcoach.
You’ll enjoy the services of a professional Irish tour director throughout the tour.
With accommodations at first class hotels for eight nights and a one night stay in a 15th century Irish castle, this tour allows you to experience Ireland in style.
Transfers, full Irish breakfasts daily, nine dinners including Dublin Irish Night and the farewell dinner at Cabra Castle, a welcome reception and tips for baggage handling, taxes and hotel gratuities are all included, making this tour truly worry free.
All entrance fees to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Guinness Storehouse, a factory tour of Waterford Crystal, a walking tour of Waterford, a ferry ride across the River Shannon, the River Shannon cruise with tea and scones and the Megalithic Tombs Visitor Center at Newgrange are included.
Sightseeing on this tour includes Dublin, Waterford, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Donegal and Cavan. Isn’t this the perfect trip for a first-timer?
You are always encouraged to add a few nights pre and/or post trip in order to more fully appreciate your arrival or departure point. These trips are “customizable” so don’t forget to ask.
Have you taken a look at a satellite photo of gorgeous green Ireland? If you do, you’ll be convinced to see it for yourself.

High school reunion? Oh yeah!
A man got on an airplane to head north on a business trip. As he took his seat he found himself sitting next to a young boy about 17, who was gazing out the window with his hand under his chin. The plane had taken off when the boy looked at the man with tears in his eyes.
