Decorations in bloom for the 40th Annual Women's Holy Week Luncheon

McALESTER — Representatives from six local churches have been busy preparing for the 40th Annual Women’s Holy Week Luncheon set for April 5.

Christina Thurber and representatives of All Saints’ Episcopal Church have arranged for the decoration of the tables for the free event, which is open to all women.

“The All Saints’ Episcopal Women’s Guild is sponsoring the decorations,” Thurber said.

She said the theme for the decorations is "Spring Time."

“Manns Flower Shop and Greenhouse is loaning us about 100 azalea plants,” Thurber said adding that the flowers will be in shades of pink.

All women are encouraged to attend the salad luncheon set on the Maundy Thursday of Holy Week, which is the Thursday before Easter. As in year’s past, the luncehon will be at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple at Second and Adams streets, and it begins at 11:30 a.m.

Ladies who do not work outside the home are asked to bring a large salad and plan to arrive by 11:15 a.m. with their salad. The dish should have the owner’s name on it so that it can be returned. Serving utensils will be provided.

Ladies working outside the home should plan to arrive at 11:30 a.m.
