McALESTER —
James Richard “Rick” Faling Jr., 49, of Frisco, Texas, died, Jan. 24, 2013, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Memorial services are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in McAlester, with the Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
He was born on July 27, 1963, in Monett, Mo., to James Richard Faling, Sr. and Mary Lou (Stipe) Faling. His family moved to Texas when he was a young child and he grew up in Mesquite. He attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in accounting in 1985. He then entered law school at Oklahoma City University, where he received his Juris Doctorate. He married Julie Kraybill on June 9, 1990, in Norman. Following law school, he joined the Stipe Law Firm in Oklahoma City and in the years that followed he and Julie welcomed two sons, Trey and Eric, to the family. In 2000, the family moved to McAlester, after Rick joined Patient Account Management Services, initially as controller and later as president. He and his wife were active members of First Baptist Church during their years in McAlester and Rick served as a deacon and treasurer of the church. In 2005, he became president of HCFS, Inc., in the Dallas area, and his family joined him four years later. They have been members of Elevate Life Church in Frisco since moving to Texas.He had an eclectic taste in music, with favorites in many genres. He loved to watch sports, especially OU football, and enjoyed playing golf. He was well known for his big sense of humor; he was a bit of a prankster, and he liked to make people laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Faling of Frisco, Texas; two sons, James Richard “Trey” Faling, III and Eric Lee Faling, both of Frisco; parents Richard, Sr. and Lou Faling of Forney, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Natala and Guy Hunsaker, of Mesquite; a niece, Sarah Shealy, and her husband Richard, of Carrollton, Texas, and their son, Zachary; a nephew, Jonathan Hunsaker and his wife Courtney, of Mesquite, and their son, Jace; mother-in-law, Pat Joslin of Oklahoma City; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Ann Beaver and her husband Jeff, of Plano, Texas, and their children, Hope, Austin, Gabrielle and Lily; and Gena Perry and her husband, Ryan, of Oklahoma City, and their children Kaelyn Coleman, and her husband, James, of Oklahoma City; Karissa Hoffman and her husband, Andrew, of Aurora, Colo., Benjamin Perry, of Oklahoma City, and Matthew Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., and step-father-in-law, Lee Joslin of Clayton, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Active pallbearers are Guy Hunsaker, Wayne Stipe, Jonathan Hunsaker, Richard Shealy, Ryan Perry and Jeff Beaver. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Gold, Phillip Stipe. Greg Stipe, Rick Black and Brett Floyd.
