Tommie Louise Griffin

McALESTER — Tommie Louise Griffin, 74, of Shady Point, died Sunday Nov. 25, 2012, in Shady Point.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Assembly of God in Poteau with the Rev. Lynn Bullard officiating. Burial will be at Dog Creek Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau,

Born Oct. 28, 1938, in Bonham, Texas, she was the daughter of Joseph Saul and Bonnie (Marsh) Nowell. She was a beautician for 45 years.

Survivors include her brother Doug Nowell; children, Shauna and Tommy Caldwell, Eddie Griffin; Kitty and Elliot Gelles;  grandchildren, Colin Caldwell, Evan Griffin, Lauren Griffin, Dr. Christopher Sudduth, wife Beka Sudduth and their son, Ethan; great-granddaughter, Michelle Markley Mills; great-grandson, Logan Markley.

Also, nieces, Leigh Nowell McCumber, Tracey Nowell Christianberry, Bonnie Davis Weeks, Julie Keeling and Sharon Hugle; nephews, Paul Davis, Stanley Davis, Thomas Davis, Jimmy Dale Nowell and Bill Nowell; brother-in-law, Paul Davis Sr.; sisters-in-law, Sue Nowell, Charlene Nowell and Donna Littlejohn; special friends, Donald and Peggy Caldwell, Mandi Stout and Governor Mary Fallin, the troopers of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the many beauticians and customers she befriended throughout her career.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Joyce Davis, Jim Nowell and Bill Nowell; nephew, Joseph Nowell; niece, Christy Nowell Rogers; grandson, Jason Markley and Joseph Saul Nowell; her parents; stepfather, Jack Coltrane, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be the LeFlore and Latimer County Detachment Troop “D.”
