Timothy E. Butler

McALESTER — Timothy E. Butler, 64, of McAlester, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his residence.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Bishop Funeral Home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Whitefield Cemetery in Whitefield with the Rev. Cecil Day officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Bishop Funeral Service

He was born June 23, 1948, in Whitefield, to Denvil Eugene and Alice Pauline Cantrell Butler. He graduated from Stigler High School in 1966 and later attended college in Oklahoma City. He married Carol E. Price on Feb. 7, 1966, in Stilwell.

He worked in law enforcement for a number of years, and in 1979 began working as a safety consultant for the state Department of Corrections, retiring in 2006. He also worked in security for the Choctaw Nation Casino, and later as a reserve deputy for the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office.

He enjoyed attending and participating in roping events and watching rodeos. He was a rancher and enjoyed riding horses on trail rides.

He owned Tim Butler Custom Freeze Branding for a number of years.

He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the McAlester Round-up Club.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Butler, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Kim Allen and Cheri Butler, of Tecumseh; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Lynette and McAdoo Huffman, of Lawton; grandchildren Nathan Baker, of Crestview, Fla., Kelli Baker, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Zachary Huffman, of Mountain View, and Wyatt Huffman, of Twincity, Ga.; his mother, Alice Butler, of Stigler; sisters and brothers-in-law Connie and L.D. Jones, of Tahlequah, and Pam and Jim Pearson, of Stigler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jimmy Butler, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Florence Price.

Pallbearers will be Terry Warren, Trent Myers, Bob Boone, Billy Vaughn, Frank Morgan and Mike Coxsey. Honorary pallbearers will be his coffee shop buddies at What About Bob’s.
