McALESTER —
Alice Green, 97, of Hartshorne, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the McAlester Regional Health Center.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne with Father Hung Viet Le officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Born March 14, 1915, in Hartshorne, she was the daughter of the Joseph and Katie (Gentile) Saletto. She grew up in Hartshorne and had lived there all her life, other than spending some time, off and on, in Texas with her daughter.
She worked at Gobby’s Restaurant and then at Rexall Drug Store in Hartshorne before spending the next 35 years as a waitress at the Aldridge Hotel Coffee Shop in McAlester.
She had also worked at Jones Academy as a foster grandparent for six years.
She was a longtime, devoted member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne and was active in the church Alter Society.
She was also always interested in helping with the Hartshorne School Annual Reunion and enjoyed going to Branson and to Texas to spend time with her family. She loved people and was always helping families dealing with illness or death and people who might just be down on their luck.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Green Jennings and her husband, Chuck, Wills Point, Texas.; four grandchildren, Sandra Lewis and her partner, Russell Shamburger, Chuck Jennings Jr. and his wife, Kelly, Kyle Jennings and Stephen Jennings.
Also, five great-grandchildren, Jason Price and partner, Leandra Brown, Nicole Jennings, Chuck “Trey” Jennings III, Spencer Jennings and Tyler Short, and three great-great-grandchildren, Briana Price, Jacob Price and Emily Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Jennings Jr., Kyle Jennings, Stephen Jennings, Jason Price, Chuck “Trey” Jennings III, Spencer Jennings, Tyler Short and Jacob Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lee, Gerald Sellers, John Paul Peace, Don McCaslin, Jack Price, Matt Ranallo and Tate Ranallo.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Rosary Cemetery Fund.
