Guardey Poe dies at 71

McALESTER — Guardey Poe, 71, of Haywood, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at her home in Haywood

The family will receive friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m Tuesday.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Arpelar Nazarene Church. Bart Patterson will officicate. Interment will follow at Arpelar Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Guardey was born on Jan. 6, 1942, in Province to Roy L. and Verna Hazel (Petty) Smith. She grew up in the Province area and married John H. Poe on May 21, 1958, in Ardmore. After John retired from the Air Force they lived in Ardmore for a while then, in 1970, they made their home in Haywood. Guardey earned her GED then attended classes for her Emergency Medical Technician certification and worked as an EMT for Wadley’s Ambulance, Para-Med Ambulance and Holdenville Hospital. She enjoyed doing wood-working crafts and crossword puzzles in her spare time.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Guardey and Leonard Howard, of Bache, Brenda and Squeaky Joslin, of Beggs and Sharron and Bill Loud, of Crowder; nine grandchildren, Jason Null and his wife, Kristy, Jesse Joslin and his wife, Heather, Cody Poe, Bethany Joslin, Brittany Joslin, Kyle Howard, Chelsea Howard, Richard Howard and Lauren Howard; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan Null, Cylee Null, Aiden Joslin, Cameron LeComte, Kaleb Harris, Devin Antifae, Madison Joslin, Aerie Poe and Pepyr Null; brother-in-law, Joe Poe and his wife, Barbara, of Midwest City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Poe; grandparents; two brothers; and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be Jason Null, Jesse Joslin, Cody Poe, Kyle Howard, Bill Loud, Squeaky Joslin and Leonard Howard.
