Sarah (Templeton) Royal dies at 72

McALESTER — Sarah (Templeton) Royal, 72, of Hartshorne, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Assembly of God in Gowen with the Rev. Jerry Grammar officiating. Burial will be at Bache-Red Oak Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Born July 25, 1940, in Hartshorne, she was the daughter of Fred and Lila Mae (Capers) Templeton. She loved singing and sang with the girls quartet in high school. She also sang with the Oklahoma Jubilee Sweet Adelines.  She loved to hear her daughter and family sing and loved to bake and cook for her large family. She married Edward Royal on May 11, 1991, in Watauga, Texas. She was active in the Methodist Church in Rolling Hills. She loved to fish and spent her life working in banks and oil companies.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Royal, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Steve Raley, Mount Pleasant, Texas; two granddaughters, Ariel Raley, Fort Worth, Texas, and Sayre Raley, Mount Pleasant, Texas; one stepdaughter and her two daughters, Rhonda Ford, Arlington, Texas, and Sharese Dickerson, Arlington, and Carlie Ford, Arlington; one stepson and daughter-in-law and their daughters, Carlin and Sherry Royal, Whitt, Texas, and Shalin Royal, Whitt, and Cathryn Royal, Whitt.

Also, six sisters and one brother, Mary and Elmo Collins, of Calvin, Bea and Johnny Williams, of Hartshorne, Martha Williams, of Haileyville, Johnnye and Rhodney Wilson, of Wilburton, Sandra and Larry Johnson, of Anchorage, Alaska, Darrell and Belva Templeton, of Oklahoma City, and Nancy and Calvin Mattingley, Williston, N.D.

And, sister-in-law, Texann Templeton, Goodyear, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Allen Albright, of Hartshorne; sisters-in-law, Dawn Head, East Bernard, Texas, and Peggy Wright, Grandbury, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janet Albright, and two brothers, Thomas and Robert Templeton.

Pallbearers will be Carlin Royal, Buddy Sandefur, Darren Wilson, Dale Scott, Duane “Bam” Scott and Donnie Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Williams, Elmo Collins, Rhodney Wilson, Allen Albright and Michael Templeton.
