Daisy Troop reaches out to U.S. troops

HOMETOWN HEROES | Scouts send a little bit of home to troops in war zone

By Marketta Johnson
Staff Writer

In April Girl Scout Daisy Troop 430, of McAlester, wanted to do something for American troops stationed in Iraq.

They wanted to remind the troops in Iraq that people on the homefront were thinking of them back home. They made that a reality by sending the troops something almost everyone loves: Girl Scout Cookies.

Lead by troop leader Julie Olsen and assistant leaders Rebecca Lujan and Adisa Dodson, Daisy Troop 430 set forth to send their cookies to the soldiers. Troop members Alexandria Olsen, Rilee Underwood, Madison Rhodes, Beth Dodson, Alexandra Lujan, Teresa Rivera, Sidney Collier, Hannah Kemp, Anna Kenieutbbl, Kylie Young and Hope Bauer worked hard and got the cookies to the troops.

The troops loved the cookies and sent the girls a photo of them enjoying the cookies and the letters the girls also sent.

The Girl Scouts tries to instill in the girls core values that will lead them on the path to success. This troop seems to be well on their way. This troop is trying to make the world a better place one cookie at a time.
