Fair-Miller Park
Red Oak 4-H members, with the assistance of City of Red Oak and Latimer County District 3, have continued to work on the Fair-Miller Park. A special thanks to John Noah for replacing the wood on the Merry Go Round. Red Oak 4-H is planning an Ice Cream social and meeting to make additional plans. Red Oak 4-H
Several members of Red Oak 4-H met at the OSU Extension office to prepare a Latimer County 4-H promotional poster. The posters will be entered in the Latimer County Free Fair, as well as to promote 4-H during National 4-H month. The Poster Workshop was conducted by Tony Johnson, OSU Extension, with assistance from Kelly Johnson, Buffalo Valley 4-H. Red Oak 4-H members put the finishing touches on their posters at Red Oak church of Christ with Red Oak 4-H leaders. Red Oak 4-H
Red Oak 4-H chose a project to improve Fair-Miller Park, located on the south end of Main Street in Red Oak. The Red Oak City Council, as well as Latimer County District 3 has been helping the 4-H members. Dean White repaired and painted the antique road grader that has been at Fair Miller Park for many years. Pictured on the road grader is Asher Kauk and Titus Montgomery; behind the wheel on the right is Quincee Kauk. The 4-H has many other projects are planned for the Park as well. Red Oak 4-H thanks Dean White for his donation of time and supplies to make this repair happen.

Rotary
Pictured from left are, Yvette Martin, Rotary, Aaron Willams and Lawanna Thompson, both from CASA, as the two spoke with the McAlester Rotary Club about the importance of becoming a volunteer to help abused and neglected children. CASA also gave away a ticket to their fundraiser the "Taste of Southeast Oklahoma" that is scheduled to be held, August 21 at the Southeast Expo Center.

Red Oak 4H
Red Oak 4-H members attended an End of Summer Bash at Alma Water Park. 4-H members and Cloverbud members attending were, Maxx and Ashlynn Montgomery; Magnum and Maddie Vanhook; Ben Parker and Charity Thomas; Riley Sumpter; Courtney Adams; Asher Reed and Quincee Kauk. 4 H Crafts
Red Oak 4-H partnered with Wister 4-H for an Arts and Crafts Camp at Wister Public Schools on July 19 and 20. Pictured front row from left are, Ben Thomas and Quincee Kauk: and back row, Parker Thomas, Asher Kauk, Maxx Montgomery, Reed Kauk, Charity Thomas and Ashlynn Montgomery. The 4-H members painted ceramics, painted and decorated birdhouses, made seasonal wreaths and several additional projects in preparation for the Latimer County Free Fair. Michelle Shelton, Wister 4-H leader and Wister Public School instructor, was the instructor. She was assisted by several Red Oak 4-H volunteers: Dru Kauk, Lisa Montgomery, Sophia Thomas, Christina Vanhook and Jodie White.

Red Oak 4_H
Red Oak 4-H members have been participating in many summer activities. Pictured from left are 4-H members, Ashlyn Montgomery, Karlie Hudson and Charity Thomas recently participated in a two day sewing class at Red Oak Church of Christ. The girls are modeling
their recycled t-shirts and skirts. Latimer County 4-H partnered with
LeFlore County 4-H on this project. Another sewing class is planned in the

Rotary
The 2012-2013 New Leadership for District 6110 pictured from left are, John Williams, district governor, Yvette Martin, president McAlester Rotary Club and Gary Boyd, assistant governor. Williams attended the McAlester Rotary Club meeting on July 10 to discuss his vision for the McAlester Club and the district. Meetings are open to the public at The Meeting Place every Tuesday from 12-1 p.m.

Miss Oklahoma Award
Pictured from left are, Jennifer Stewart Miss McAlester scholarship pageant director, Alexis Banks Miss McAlester and Lori Few, McAlester's Outstanding Teen director. Banks won the People's choice award during final's night competition where she competed in the top ten at the Miss Oklahoma pageant.
