McAlester police searching for alleged rapist

McALESTER — McAlester police are currently searching for a man who allegedly  attacked a woman outside her workplace Wednesday night.

The woman, who works in the 1500 block of South Main Street in McAlester, told police she was leaving work Wednesday evening at around 9 when she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man, according to McAlester Police Det. Capt. Gary Wansick.

“The male approached her as she was going to her vehicle,” Wansick said. “And he tried to kiss her. A struggle ensued. He forced her to the ground, partially disrobed her and attempted to rape her.”

The woman broke free from the man and got in her vehicle and left the scene, Wansick said.

McAlester police are searching for a black man in his 40s with a muscular build. He reportedly stands at about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, Wansick said.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact the McAlester Police Department at 918-423-1212.
