Daniel S. Gordon, Lt. Colonel United States Air National Guard (retired), died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. John Episcopal Church in Norman. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home of Moore.
Born Oct. 7, 1939, he was the son of A. James and Dorothy Gordon.
He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Team for several years, being awarded the Red Cross Volunteer of the Year in 1999.
He designed and created a monument for his father’s World War II 561st Field Artillery Battalion which was dedicated at Fort Sill on May 3, 2002.
He had been a volunteer at the Tinker Air Force Base pharmacy and ID sections and has received his five year volunteer award.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 9265 on South Pennsylvania in Oklahoma City.
He was a collector of baseball caps, beer steins, and AWACS E-3A memorabilia.
Survivors include his wife Connie, of the home; daughters, Kelley R. Spencer and husband, Matt, Wichita, Kan. and Elizabeth Smith and husband, Doug, Phoenix, and grandchildren, Kasey R. Spencer, Overland Park, Kan. and Dakota W. Spencer, Wichita, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, A. James and Dorothy Gordon, and brother, James H. Gordon.
