Ralph Cantrell Jr.

Ralph Cantrell Jr., 87, of McAlester, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Muskogee VA Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Oct. 18, 1922, in McAlester, he was the son of Ralph Sr. and Pearl (Harris) Cantrell. He had lived all his life in the McAlester area. He worked as a delivery truck driver for Carnation Milk for 27 years.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946.

He married Clara Charline Latham in 1947 in Ozark, Ark., and she preceded him in death in 1986.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Holly Cantrell, of McAlester; grandchildren, Charity Ford, of Keota, Tommy Cantrell Jr., of McAlester, Curtis Cantrell, Phoenix, Trenton McClellan, of McAlester, Zachary Cantrell, of McAlester, and Wesley Cantrell, of McAlester; great-grandchildren, Michael Cantrell and his wife, Kailey, Ashley Botts, and Christopher Botts, and a great-great-grandchild, Mackenzie Cantrell.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a son; one brother, and one sister.
