Lester Batts, 96, of Kiowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Mary Hurley Hospital in Coalgate.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kiowa Church of Christ with Danny Huntsman officiating. Burial will be at Kiowa Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Born July 9, 1913, in Centrahoma, he was the son of W.H. and Amanda (Spurlock) Batts. He lived in the Kiowa area most of his life. He married Margie Hobbs on April 19, 1941, in Kiowa.
He was a member of Kiowa Church of Christ.
Survivors include children, Bobbie and Dan Cearley, of Kiowa, Donald and Carolyn Batts, of Kiowa, and Judy and Tom Stephens, of Kiowa.
Also, 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Shirley and Gene Weatherford, of McAlester; special friends, Johnny and Lula Powell and Mark Mitchell, and extended family from Mary Hurley Hospital and Dr. Helton.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sisters; one brother; one grandson and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jim Cearley, William Cearley, Johnny Powell, Randy Powell, Donnie Batts and Chance Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons.
