Wynema Lanham


Wynema Lanham, 64, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. She will be buried beside her husband at 3:30 p.m. at Bohannon Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Born in Stuart, on March 17, 1945, she graduated from Stuart High School in 1963. She worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper at Ramsey Lumber Company in Holdenville. She also worked for Drs. Jerry Anderson and Phil Tyree while in Holdenville. In 1985, she married Everett Lanham in Springdale, Ark. and in 1986, the couple moved to Foyil.

A member of Holdenville Free Will Baptist Church for many years, they transferred their membership to Lone Chapel Assembly of God when they made the move to Foyil. For 23 years, she worked as secretary at First Christian Church in Claremore. She was also the bookkeeper for Camp Christian of Chouteau for four years.

Her hobbies included reading, crochet and working on the computer.

Survivors include her siblings, Gwen Upchurch and husband, Dick, of McAlester, Donna Kirkwood and husband, Bob, of Houston, Texas, Glenn Johnson and wife, Sue, of Santa Fe, Texas, Larry Self and Bill Self, both of Harrah; her adopted children, Wayne and Michelle McCoy of Inola.

Also, stepmother Velma Self, of California; stepsister, Cheryl Marsh, of California; stepbrothers, Ron Morrison, of Harrah and Lavern Morrison, of California; her uncle Paul Self of Catoosa; her aunt, Pauline Risenhoover, of Quinton.

And, adopted grandchildren, Daryl and Hero McCoy, of California, Gara Clement and Leanna McCoy, both of Inola; her great-grandchild, Ronan McCoy, of California, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Lanham, who passed away in October of 1999; her son, Wayne Lanham; her father, the Rev. Curtis Self; her mother, Fae Johnson; her aunt, Irene McNutt, and her brother, Gene Self.
