Jimmie R. Wright

Bishop Jimmie R. Wright, 75, of Bastrop, La., died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at East Haven Church of God in Bastrop, La., with Bishop David Sistrunk officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville, La.

He pastored Church of God churches for 55 years in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Mississippi and Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Scroggins Wright, Bastrop, La.; four daughters, Peggy and Steve Bray, of Broken Bow, Pam and Shannon Ryburn, of Anadarko, Melinda and Scott Jewell, of Crowder, and Julie Heath, of McAlester.

Also, two sons, Jimmie Jr. and Lesa Wright, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Tim and Renee’ Wright, of Broken Bow; stepson, Mike and Lynn Scroggins, Bastrop, La.

And, two sisters, Martha Roderick, Eastman, Ga., and Sandra Childers, Belvedere, S.C.; two brothers, Leroy Wright, Au Gres, Michigan, and Jack Wright, Eastman, Ga; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Temple Wright, in 2000; parents, Alonzo and Lois Wright; sisters, Marjorie Phillips, Ozella Kyle and Miriam Ross; brother, John Wright, and an infant brother and sister.

Pallbearers will be ministers of Church of God.
