Vera Faye Carmon


Vera Faye Carmon, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Southwestern Medical Center, Lawton, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Steve Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery under direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Born Jan. 20, 1920, in Canadian, the daughter of Thomas Weeks and Nancy Percilla (Owens) Weeks, she grew up in and near Canadian and attended school at Fairview.

She married Elmer “Buddy” Carmon on June 29, 1940, in Crowder. She was a homemaker and for a brief time, a nurse’s aid. She was a lifelong member of the North Town Church of Christ and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Linda Carmon; a daughter, Mary Johns, all of Lawton.

Also, six grandchildren and spouses, Pamela Carmon, Bud and Erica Carmon, Linda and Jeff Nichols, all of Lawton, Chris and Robbie Carmon, of Wayne, Glenda and Stephen, of Compton Highland Park, Colo., Rick and Shae Johns, of Wichita Falls, Texas.

And, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia LaRue, of McAlester, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 7, 1999; her parents, and three brothers.

Pallbearers include Chris Carmon, Bud Carmon, Justin Carmon, Josh Fulks, Ricky Johns and Kenny LaRue. Honorary pallbearer is Brady Carmon.
