Carl Haile, 76, of McAlester, died Thursday Nov. 19, 2009, at McAlester.
Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Christian Church, McAlester, with Pastor Cliff House officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
Pallbearers include Nathan Haile, Kenny Haile, Harvey Haile Jr., Rick Corder, Fred Cleveland and William Taylor. Honorary pallbearers include Cy Lalli, Gomer Taylor, Bill and Christine Verner, and the ladies from the Art Barn.
Born June 25, 1933, in Heber Springs, Ark., to his parents John W. and Ruby C. (Gentry) Haile, he came to McAlester with his family at an early age and was a graduate of McAlester High School. After high school, he entered military service in the U.S. Air Force in 1953, and served until 1961. He met the former Margaret O. Dawes while stationed in England and they were married Sept. 10, 1959, in McAlester. She died in 1997.
After his service time, he attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton were he earned an associate degree. He operated Haile Custom Cabinet Shop for more than 50 years, first with his father, and then with his son, Robert. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, painting at the Art Barn and being with his granddaughters.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Haile, of McAlester; one son, Robert and wife, Joann Haile, of McAlester; two brothers, Kenneth and wife, Delores Haile, of McAlester, John Haile, of McAlester, and three granddaughters, Kara and Khloe Haile and Julie Mattias
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret, and a brother, Harvey Haile.
