Margaret Jean (Peccio) Silva


Margaret Jean (Peccio) Silva, 86, of Krebs, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at her home in McAlester.

Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Chapel.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Krebs with Father Jim Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Sept. 21, 1923, in Krebs, she was the daughter of John and Minnie (Corado) Peccio. She grew up here and had lived here all her life. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1942.

She had worked at the McAlester Abstract Company and at the Naval Ammunition Depot and then helped her mother manage her restaurant, Minnie’s Italian Restaurant.

She enjoyed many activities, including cooking, fishing, dancing, bowling, riding horses and making wine; but her real joy came in spending time with her family and her granddaughters.

She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Krebs.

Survivors include one son, Dominic Silva Jr., of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lawrence Scarpitti, of McAlester; two granddaughters, Candice Scarpitti, of Norman, and Courtney Scarpitti, of McAlester.

Also, three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Silva of Krebs, Louise (Peccio) Hopkins, of Lindsay, and Betty (Peccio) Silott, of McAlester; nieces and nephews, Sharon Peccio and her husband, Wes Tarver, Houston, Dana Peccio, of Idabel, Michele (Silva) Wilcox, of Krebs, Kim (Silva) Stipe, of Oklahoma City, John H. Silva and his wife, Nancy, Granbury, Texas, Michael Silva and his wife, Susan, Dallas, Lamar Galloway and his wife, Lori, Austin, Texas, Robert D. Silva and his wife, Ginger, of McAlester, Douglas Galloway Sr. and his wife, Robin, Fayetteville, Ark., and Kevin Beams and his wife, Gina, of Lindsay, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 4, 2008; her parents; her grandparents, Mary and Pete Peccio, and Matilda and Pete Corado; brothers, Albert “Buddy” Peccio and Frank “Rabbit” Peccio; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Massie D. Silva, Joe and Mary Jo Silva and Minnie and Lamar Galloway; a niece, Tracy (Silva) Wayling, and a nephew, Johnny Peccio.

Pallbearers will be John H. Silva, Lamar Galloway, Robert D. Silva, Michael Silva and Douglas Galloway Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Wilcox, Bill Kinkead, Justin Wilcox, Larry Partain, Douglas Galloway Jr., Michael Prichard, Will Seibert, James “Sonny” Anderson, Brian Caldwell, Massimo Cappo, Chris Caldwell, Kevin Beams, Steve Davis and Joe Prichard.

Memorials may be made to Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association, cancer research or St. Joseph’s Church Renovation fund.
